The digital tv switchover is the biggest event in broadcasting since colour television. starting in the itv border region in autumn 2008 and finishing in 2012, television services in the uk will go completely digital, itv region by itv region. the old analogue television signal will be switched off and replaced by a digital signal which will provide a greater choice of channels. any tv set that's not converted to digital when the switchover takes place will no longer receive tv programmes. every tv set you want to keep watching in your home will need to be converted or upgraded to digital. what is the switchover help scheme? who's eligible? people are eligible for the help scheme if they are: aged 75 or over, or have lived in a care home for six months or more, get (or could get): disability living allowance (dla), or attendance or constant attendance allowance,mobility supplement, are registered blind or partially sighted. Rogue traders are using the confusion over the digital television switchover to try to dupe residents into handing over cash for work that doesn’t need doing. trading standards has warned householders to be on their guard after reports a man claiming to be from an aerial company is targeting leigh park. he told residents they needed a digital aerial to be able to watch television come the switchover in march. but there is no such thing as a digital aerial. if you already have cable or satellite television with good reception there is no need to do anything. a standard analogue television aerial should be fine for digital.

Officers remind residents to remain vigilant after a series of aerial cable thefts in the areapublished:15.02.2012 police in bedwas and caerphilly are warning residents to be vigilant with the of security of their homes following a spate of aerial cable thefts from outside their homes. in the last 2 weeks, 10 properties in bedwas and caerphilly have been targeted in areas including: castle park, dol y felin and pontygwindy road. it appears lengths of aerial cable, in particular sky satellite cables are being cut in order to steal the copper inside. crime and disorder reduction officer for bedwas and caerphilly, stuart lewis says: "with the recent increase in the price of copper it appears criminals are cutting these cables in order to steal the metal inside. we are currently investigating the recent thefts and i would encourage the public to report any suspicious behaviour immediately on 101." gwent police offer this advice: make thefts more difficult by removing any

Switchover Underway In Southern England   (written 10-02-2012)
The first stage of the digital switchover in hampshire, berkshire and surrey has been completed. analogue bbc two was permanently turned off at the hannington transmitter group on 8 february and digital tv has been boosted to reach all areas. the start of tv switchover means that thousands of viewers in digital blackspots including parts of winchester, newbury and henley can now get bbc freeview channels for the first time, while picture quality will improve for many existing viewers. homes already watching freeview will need to retune their tvs and boxes in order to regain their bbc services. the process will be completed on 22 february, when the remaining analogue channels will be switched off. further freeview channels from itv, channel 4 and channel 5 will then be available from local transmitters for the first time.

We installed eight new screens for landmark information in there ongoing refurbishment at there Exeter offices on the sowton industrial estate. The whole job was completed in just under 8 hours to witch they were extremely pleased with the outcome.

Bskyb Upgrades Anytime Plus With Iplayer And Itv Player   (written 08-02-2012)
Uk pay tv operator bskyb has upgraded its video-on-demand service sky anytime plus and has added content from local broadcasters itv and the bbc. the move means that the bbc iplayer is now available to sky anytime plus subscribers for the first time. it is also launching a dedicated itv player section that will see shows from the commercial broadcaster including prime suspect, lewis and cold feet made available.
